Hidden Meadow Farm

Retirement Announcement

We, Bill and Barb Moats, find that time's pendulum has swung into the retirement phase, and thus it is essential to liquidate our full Peruvian herd of 14 Suris and 2 Peruvian Huacayas.

We have found our time in the alpaca industry an extremely rewarding venture, and have delighted in breeding for conformation and fleece quality. The farm's program was directed toward raising Suri alpacas and breeding to bloodlines which carry on the best standards of Suri alpacas.

Participation in the industry began for us in 2000. Bill is now a retiring physician. He was happily raised on an animal farm, and his love for animals has made itself obvious in the special care he has given his alpacas. City girl Barb has come to love these animals also, yet continues to maintain her own personal interests in gardening, art and music.

Our experience in this ever widening and exciting industry has been in-depth and advice has been and always will be happily and freely given.

Consider adding these cherished animals of ours to your herd and/or farm! Prices as listed on this site are all negotiable.

Hidden Meadow Farm

Hidden Meadow Farm is located in a suburb of Akron, Ohio. It is a small farm and by intent will remain so in order that the quality of stock can be chosen and bred for superiority. The herd health and medical care is of the highest order. Love of these animals provides a great added dimension.

Our Policy

Hidden Meadow Farm's farming program is directed toward raising high quality Suri alpacas, breeding to bloodlines which carry on the best standards of Suri alpacas.

To this end, our alpacas are tended with love, attention, excellent veterinarian care, careful maintenance of a healthy diet, and clean living areas.  They hum in praise of their care!  To own an HMF alpaca is a guarantee  of quality and excellent lineage from which your own farm herds can improve and look toward the future.

We pride ourselves on the core of our herd - our four breeding suri females - all full Peruvian (one full Accoyo).  All pregnant females are bred to full Accoyo herdsires, including our sole matriarch Huacaya, Clytie. Clytie is the original member of the herd who constantly reminds us (and visitors) how friendly and loving an alpaca can be.

Our full Accoyo herdsire, Victor has begun his breeding program, and offspring are now entering the show ring.  Victor is a handsome strong animal boasting full locks and a blue ribbon.  Three other young males are potential herdsire quality.  Juveniles and yearlings are now competing with highly promising futures.

Our Code of Ethics
